Animal welfare

The welfare of both farm animal and companion animals is fundamental to UK Pet Food and our members

Animal welfare is not an independent topic and it interconnects with our society and the planet we live in. There are links between improved animal welfare and improved conservation, improved food safety and food security and improved well-being.
Our belief is that children and young people need to be educated about caring for animals as part of the curriculum, so that our pets are treated with their best interest at heart and the welfare of farmed animals is paramount within the food system.

Collaboration with animal welfare organisations

UK Pet Food recognises that success in these areas will come through collaboration. As a result, we are a proud co-sponsor of the All-Party Group for Animal Welfare. We join other influential voices in the welfare sector to ensure animal welfare is a key consideration.
