Pet Obesity: data & statistics

According to vets, obesity is a big problem for pets

However, our research shows that most pet owners believe their pets are the right weight

Every year, UK Pet Food publishes pet obesity statistics for dogs, cats, small mammals and other pets.

This research, which has been gathered for more than 12 years, is the result of surveys amongst vets, conducted every year at the London Vet Show and at other veterinary events, research amongst 8,000 households to gather pet population data.

We speak to the professionals to gather their thoughts on pet nutrition in addition to monitoring obesity levels and we ask a subgroup of around 2,500 pet owners about pet nutrition habits and perceptions of pet obesity.
