Raw Pet Food Standard

A world-leading certification scheme for commercial raw pet food producers to support the safe production of raw pet food has been developed by UK Pet Food. Expertly delivered by independent certification body Kiwa.

The ceritifcation scheme is based on a comprehensive standard, encompassing all aspects of hygiene and feed safety. It applies to the entire process from the selection of raw materials to the finished products.

It has been developed with the objective of ensuring the safety of products intended for our pets through:

- Use of registered and approved raw pet food manufacturing sites

- Use of approved suppliers and supplier assurance procedures for all ingredients

- Appropriate plant design and maintenance

- Safe product formulation. Precise recipes and production methods

- Quality management systems in place including HACCP

- Safe handling of ingredients and finished products

- Full traceability systems and record keeping

- Quality checks throughout the process

- Programme of internal auditing

- Microbiological testing and anaylsis

- Staff training including personal hygiene and use of protective clothing

- Compliant labelling and product communication
