National Pet Month 2024 has come to an end, and what a month it’s been!
In this challenging financial climate, we’ve shared top tips on what to do if you can’t afford to feed and care for your animal companion, with links to organisations that can provide help and support.
Throughout April we’ve focused on the five key welfare needs of our pets – Companionship, Behaviour, Diet, Health and Environment - sharing a variety of blogs and social posts full of top tips from vet and pet professionals, plus our Pet Food Bank Guide which you can find at www.nationalpetmonth.org.uk
We’ve loved sharing pet owners’ #PetPawsitivity stories and pics, as they’ve been telling us what they love about sharing their homes with their animal companions, and we’ve welcomed a variety of amazing guests to our #NPMLive shows.
We’ve shared advice on how to feed your pet healthily on a budget and choose the right food for your pet at various life stages.
We’ve provided the latest information on cat behaviour and how to track our feline friends’ moods and emotions so we can build an even stronger bond with our pet.
On World Animal Vaccination Day we reminded pet owners that prevention is better than cure with advice on the many health and welfare benefits of regular vaccinations and keeping those boosters up to date as part of overall disease prevention.
We’ve chatted to the President of the BVA (British Veterinary Association), Dr Anna Judson, about her love of animals and the vet teams who care for them 24/7, plus the importance of preventative healthcare for our pets and developing a good relationship with our veterinary teams who are always here to help.
We’ve also learned some tips to help us give veterinary medicines to our pets, including how following the instructions protects you, your pet and the environment.
Check out our Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X social accounts where you can catch the replays and look out for some sound bites from the shows, providing top advice throughout the year.
Remember, #NationalPetMonth is not just about our campaign month every April. It’s here all year round, promoting the responsible pet care message and celebrating the joys of pet ownership, so keep following us on social media and, if you have a question or concern about a pet, always speak to your vet team.
